Travel Arrangements
Just 2 hours from Victoria the most economical way to approach Port Renfrew is by automobile. Vancouver Island is accessible through B.C. Ferries which run hourly during the summer and the Washington State Ferries. The simplest way to access all the ferry and airline schedules is via the Internet. Catch Care
The cleaning and chilling of your catch will be taken care of in preparation for storage or shipping. Fish can easily be stored for four or more days on ice, 100 quart or larger coolers work best. You can bring your own or we sell insulated shipping containers.
Your Fishing Adventure
5:15 AM self serve continental buffet breakfast in the lodge. 6 AM: your party will depart the dock on your fully guided custom fishing boat. We will take you on a 20 mile offshore cruise to the prolific Swiftsure Bank. Located directly in the entrance to the Strait of Juan de Fuca this is the feeding ground of millions of migrating salmon and halibut. Your guide will put you on the fish and keep you there. Limit fishing is common as we can catch and release many dozens of fish on a busy day. Whales are a frequent sight as well as a multitude of other marine life. 2 P:M We return with a load of fish and some great memories. There is plenty of time for pictures and then we will clean and prepare your fish for travel. You can return to the resort for a drink, a nap, a shower, a soak in the hot tub or all of the above. Appetizers in the lodge after 5 and then dinner at 6:30 featuring fresh seafood and other entrées if you prefer not to eat fish, just let us know.

Daily Limits
The daily limit for salmon is 4 per person of which 2 may be Chinook (King Salmon). The halibut daily limit is 2 per person. Possession limits are 8 salmon and 3 halibut per person . The fishing regulations for 2008 have not yet been released and are subject to change year to year. For up to date info on fishing regulations please check http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca website. Predictions for 2008 show better than average fishing. We are now able to retain Coho earlier than previous years and have witnessed fantastic bites that last for hours with lots of double and triple headers . Halibut fishing was also extremely good last year with great catches though out the entire season. We are offering halibut fishing trips starting June 1st this year, we will take you to wherever the fish are to provide you with limit fishing. Daily salmon fishing will be included midmonth as the fish move into our area.
Things to Remember:
- Fishing licenses are available at Trailhead, they cost $7 a day
for adult non resident anglers plus a one time fee of $6.42 for
salmon conservation. - Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and hat.
- Wear warm, comfortable clothing.
- Bring rainwear if you have it, we also can provide it.
- Bring your camera!
- Motion sickness remedy! (just in case) Patches work best.
- Large cooler, 100 quart or bigger for transporting your catch home.
- Insulated shipping containers are available for purchase at the resort.
