Botany Bay and Botanical Beach

Enjoy an afternoon as you explore the marine life in the tide pools at Botanical Beach. Situated at the start of the Jaun De Fuca marine trail in the Juan De Fuca Provincial Park, Botanical Beach is a famed ecological reserve. Keep an eye out for Starfish, Sea Urchins, Anenamies, crabs and other rare sea life. Best viewed at low tide; Botanical Beach is accessible by a intermediate 15 min hike and is less than a five minute drive from the Trailhead Resort.

West Coast or Juan De Fuca Trail Tusiat Falls

Challenge your self with a 7 day trek on the world famous 77 km West Coast Trail or enjoy a day hike on a portion of the 47 km Juan De Fuca Trail. Both trails offer breathtaking views of ancient first growth forest and "The Graveyard of the Pacific". Mountain Biking

Port Renfrew is host to several mountain bike trails ranging for beginner to advanced. Upon your arrival we will be happy to provide you with a map of all the local trails. Grab a picnic lunch and make your way to a spectacular lookout or spend your day challenging one of the many thigh burning single tracks.

Kayaking in the San Juan Inlet and RiversKayaking in the San Juan Inlet

Spend a day soaking in the sun as you paddle the spectacular San Juan Inlet or one of the many rivers that Port Renfrew has to offer. Full or half day guided trips will give you a descriptive tour of the local waters and wildlife. See oceanswestkayaks.com for more info.

Beaches and Lakes

There a several beaches and lakes in the Port Renfrew area. The most common of which are Lizard lake and Fairy Lake. Both lakes are just a short drive from the Trailhead Resort. The lakes are home to Cutthroat and sea run Dolly Varden. In the summer the beach area is popular for locals and tourists alike for sun tanning and swimming. There are hiking trails in the area as well as trail bike riding, and other outdoor activities.

Whale Watching and Site-seeing

Lizard LakeThey spout . . breach . . spyhop . . dive . . and lobtail! You are whale watching off British Columbia's coast and these are typical whale maneuvers. Waters in the Pacific Northwest are home to many magnificent marine mammals. The most popular, of course, are the whales, but there are many other marine animals found in this region such as dolphins, porpoises, seals, sea lions and sea otters.
